LATVIA – Ministry of Education and Science
From 1 January 2023, allocating funds to sports federations and other sports organisations recognised according to the procedure set out in the Sports Act will be centrally provided by the association «Latvijas Sporta Federāciju Padose» (LSFP).
This is stipulated in the information report, developed by the Ministry of Education and Science, which on July 1, 2022, was submitted to the participating institutions for approval. The information report is available on the single public portal of draft legal acts.

The LSFP is the only association of sports organisations to represent and implement the interests of all recognised Olympic and non-Olympic sports federations for individual and team events, technical sports in Latvia in accordance with the Sports Law.
Also by external normative acts the LFPS has been delegated other administrative tasks – making decisions on recognising a sports federation, on denying or withdrawing the status of a recognised sports federation and many other tasks. Importantly, the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in Activities of Public Officials also defines the status of public officials for members of the LSFP Board.
In order to ensure the implementation of the necessary changes from 1 January 2023 and to ensure that all sports federations and other sports organisations recognised under the Sports Act receive funding for their core activities from one organisation in the future, the Ministry of Education and Culture has developed and in a single document package with an informative report and is promoting amendments to several decrees and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers.
These are amendments to the Ministers Cabinet Resolutions No. 819 of 28 July 2009 on «The procedure for financial support by the state for the preparation and participation of national teams in sports games and in the qualifying tournaments and finals of European, world and Olympic championships»;
Changes to the MC Regulations No. 26 of 3 January 2012 on «Regulations on the Procedure for Awarding Cash Prizes for Excellence in Sport and the Amount of Cash Prizes», amendments to Cabinet of Ministers Decision No. 899 of 21 September 2010 on «the Procedure for Applying the Norms of the Law on Personal Income Tax» and amendments to the MC Order No. 385 of 8 August 2001 on «Associations, Foundations and International Education and Cooperation Programmes».
