The Belarusian opposition in exile said they had destroyed a Russian plane at an airfield near Minsk on Sunday, 26 February.

“Partisans from the “Pieramoha” (Victory) plan confirmed a successful special operation to blow up a rare Russian plane at the airfield in Machulishchy near Minsk,” Franak Viachorka, one of the main advisers to Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tihanovska, tweeted.

According to him, “two Belarusians carried out the operation” using drones. “They have already left the country and are safe,” he added.

He did not specify which Russian plane was attacked, but assured that the plane was worth 330 million euros.

Media outlets close to the opposition said it was a Russian A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft.

Belarusian and Russian authorities have not yet commented on the incident.

“I am proud of all Belarusians who continue to resist the Russian hybrid occupation of Belarus and fight for the freedom of Ukraine. Your brave actions show the whole world that Belarus resists imperial aggression,” Svetlana Tihanovskaya said on Twitter.
