LITHUANIA – NEWS
Neither prevention campaigns nor regular police raids prevent drunk driving. On Friday evening alone, five heavily intoxicated drivers were caught in Vilnius within a few hours.
Two record drinkers were detained during a raid on Ukmerges gatve street. A 38-year-old resident of Vilnius was driving a Ford with 3.23 ppm of alcohol in his system. Just a few minutes later, police officers stopped a Ĺ koda driven by an even drunker driver. This time the breathalyser recorded 3.43 ppm.

In the evening at 6:15 p.m. a very drunk lady was caught on Juodojo kelio Street. The 49-year-old owner of the Toyota had 2.59 ppm in her system.
Soon after, a police crew was called to Zhigimantu Street where a drunken man driving a Kia crashed into a car stopped ahead. A check revealed that the perpetrator of the accident was moderately drunk – 2.02 ppm.
The least drunk during the raid was the driver of a BMW detained at the Justiniskiu-Pumpeniu crossroads. The 37-year-old man had an alcohol level of 1.76, but he, too, will have to stand trial.
