Duda: Russian peace associated with poverty and slavery

LATVIA – POLAND – NEWS

Russian leader Vladimir Putin is trying to bring “Russian peace” to Ukraine and Europe, but Poland and the Baltic states associate it only with poverty and slavery, Polish President Andrzej Duda said today during a discussion on “Latvia and Poland: Countering Today’s Challenges Together“.

Duda: Russian peace associated with poverty and slavery

The events of February 24, 2022, have changed the world’s perception of security issues,” he said. “Poland and other Baltic countries have been warning for years that the consequences of communism in Russia have not disappeared completely and that sooner or later this imperialism will break through.”

Duda stressed that Poland and many other countries would do everything to keep the war in Ukraine from coming to Europe.

The Polish president is prepared for Poland to have a new “iron curtain” with Russia.

As President of Poland, I am aware that I will build this curtain all the way to the clouds to prevent an attack on our country,” Duda said, adding that Poland never wants to return to Russia’s sphere of influence.

The Polish president also pointed to different perceptions of the war in Ukraine among many European countries. For example, Poland has one perception, while Portugal has another.

The Polish president stressed that Poland, and especially the Baltic states, make every effort to tell other countries about the real history and Russia.

Duda believes that each country has the right to decide its own destiny and that any Russian justification for going to war does not stand up to criticism.

There is no Russian or American sphere of influence. It is a question of whether we allow people to choose whose side they want to be on. Poland held a referendum on joining the European Union, NATO, so we decided our own fate,” Duda stressed, adding that Ukraine should also choose its fate.
