Estonian parties promise pensions of €1,000-1,200

As of 1 January 2022, the average pension in Estonia is €596. The Estonian Minister of Finance estimates that the average old-age pension in Estonia will increase to 704 euros this year.

According to the Estonian portal ERR, Estonian parties are promising a significant increase in pensions as parliamentary elections approach.

By January 1, 2027, the average pension should be at least €1,000 per month,” says the Reform Party’s programme.

A similar amount is mentioned in the Centre Party’s election manifesto.

The Social Democratic Party promises to increase the old-age pension to 1,200 euros per month over the next four years.

EKRE wants to introduce a pension for the 13th month. Henn Põlluaas, deputy chairman of the EKRE, said his party also supports increasing pensions, but does not yet want to say exactly how much of an increase is possible.

In Latvia, the average old age pension in the 3rd quarter of 2022 was €476.53.
