LATVIA – Art Museum of the Riga Bourse (20/08/2022 – 04/12/2022)
The exhibition consists of Western European art from the 16th century to the early 20th century, including the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Finland and Norway, as well as several works describing cultural links. between European culture, India and South-East Asia. At the same time, the connection to the Baltic States is revealed through the history of the collection.

Institutions whose directors have already contributed to Director’s Choice include the Mauritshuis (The Hague), the Guggenheim (Bilbao), Berlin Art Gallery, Polish National Museum (Warsaw), Frick Collection (New York), Museum of Asian Civilisations (Singapore), Wallace Collection (London), Georgian National Museum (Tbilisi), and Museum of Decorative Arts (Prague) to name a few. A number of the resulting books have been turned into exhibitions and video stories.
The museum also invites visitors to view the renewed permanent exhibition of European art, which has been expanded to include paintings from the museum’s collection that have not been seen in a long time, as well as the Bienieme Bacchante sculpture, which is an integral part of the concept for this exhibition.
