Government approves updated schedule for preparation of Budget, 2023

LATVIA – BUDGET

At a Cabinet of Ministers (MC) meeting on Tuesday, 20 December, the government approved an updated draft order of the Finance Ministry on the timetable for the preparation of the state budget bill for 2023 and the budget basis for 2023, 2024 and 2025. The draft defines the deadline for the preparation of the State Budget Bill.

In an election year, the draft State Budget may be presented to the Sejm no later than four months after the newly elected Sejm expressed the confidence of an MP. The work on the preparation of the draft State Budget for 2023 and the budget framework for 2023, 2024 and 2025 started on time, but the new government will decide on the priorities of the sectors.
