LATVIA – Puppet Theatre
Latvian Puppet Theatre has announced its February repertoire and started selling tickets to the Latvian Society Theatre in Riga and all the box offices of BiÄźeĹĄu Paradize.
February’s programme includes the well-known and much-loved shows Kiosk, Joke After the Alphabet, How Bralitis Trusitis Won the Lion and the production Katlinpauris, nominated for the Gamer’s Night award. The festival also features a grandiose and long awaited new production – a puppet theatre debut by Intara Resetina.Â

On 17 February the premiere of his directorial production ÂŤWaffle Hearts. Mission â DaddyÂť, which will launch a series of new productions in 2023. At the end of February, the theatre will once again welcome adult audiences to appreciate the newly created puppet cabaret ÂŤWithout Morals. With puppetsÂť.
The show ÂŤWaffle Hearts. Misija â tetisÂť is based on Maria Parra’s children’s story ÂŤWaffle HeartsÂť, which has already won favour with readers. Stage designer Zane Zusta has staged the production, while the visual design is being handled by costume and puppeteer Jana Chivjele, set designer Kristaps Skulte and video artist Toms Zelgis.
It will be a modern, vivid, exciting, ridiculously cute, emotionally strong story, with original songs, dances and an impressive visual language. A young audience accustomed to gadgets and screens will be able to enjoy an animated visualisation of the environment in parallel with what’s happening on stage, creating the atmosphere and sense of surprise required for the show.
Artist Jana Chivjele, for whom, as a director, this is her first work in puppet theatre, has created fifteen puppets for the play: ÂŤMy task is to look at this material through the eyes of a child, so it appeals to every little audience and gives a wonderful theatre experience!ÂťÂ
