Latvian armed forces invite citizens living abroad to apply for professional military service

On Friday, March 3, new recruits who began their basic military training course in January this year and have successfully completed the first stage of their training will take the oath of allegiance at the Adazi military base.

The National Armed Forces are inviting all Latvian citizens to professional military service, including those who live abroad. Also invited are retired military personnel whose age has not exceeded the maximum set for their rank and still allows them to conclude a professional service contract.

By choosing professional service, military personnel receive stability, competitive and motivating remuneration from 1,100 euros per month after tax, as well as extensive social guarantees, including state-funded health care and a guaranteed retirement pension of up to 80% of the remuneration received, career development, free training in specialties, foreign languages and other areas necessary for service, internships in Latvia and abroad, including in international theatres of military operations. Children of military personnel are entitled to priority placement in pre-school educational institutions.
