LATVIA – SPORTS
The members of the Latvian National Sports Council have taken note of the information of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Education and Science about the planned donation of JSC «Latvijas valsts mezi» to promote sports in 2022, as well as decided to distribute part of the donation entrusted to LNSC.

By the end of 2022, the joint-stock company «Latvijas valsts mezi» plans to allocate a donation of EUR 3,749,211.54 for sports development, of which LNSC also participates in the distribution of EUR 2,200,000. In line with the criteria and approach approved in previous years, LNSC has recommended that the donation be sent to several associations – Council of Latvian Sports Federations, Latvian Olympic Committee, Latvian Game Sport Association, Latvian Paralympic Committee and Youth Sports Foundation (association «Board of Directors of Latvian Sports Educational Institutions»), which will then manage the special donation programme.
Recipients of donations will be required to ensure that at least 10% of the donated funds are allocated to the development of popular sports and at least 20% of the donated funds are allocated to the development of youth sports. Also, transparent information about the distribution and use of donations received should be published regularly on the recipient’s website, thus ensuring that the public is informed.
The LNSC also took note of the information of the Ministry of Agriculture on the distribution of the planned additional earmarked donation (in the amount of EUR 1 549 211.54) to the Latvian Olympic Committee, the Latvian Automobile Federation, the Latvian Luge and Sports Federation. Federation, the Latvian Gymnastics Association, the Latvian Seals Union, the Latvian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation and the Alfreds Krauklis Memorial Fund.
It is planned that the information report of the Ministry of Agriculture on the amount of funds meant for donation (donation) to the joint-stock company «Latvijas valsts mezi» and the procedure of donation (donation) in 2022 will be considered at the Cabinet of Ministers’ meeting on 6 December.
