LATVIA – Ministry of Justice
According to unadjusted data of the Central Statistical Bureau, unemployment rate in Latvia in September 2022 is 6.3%, the Ministry of Justice reports. Although this figure has been gradually decreasing since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, there is still a large number of unemployed people.Ā

On the other hand, the correctional services are still short of more than 400 employees, which will make the re-socialisation system more effective and have a direct impact on the integration of people in difficulty into society and the labour market.
As of 31 December 2021, there were 3,183 prisoners sentenced to imprisonment. As of 31 December 2021, there were 2,475.5 positions in the Prison Department according to the list of positions, but the average number of officers, employees and civil servants that year was only 2,199.
The National Probation Service works with more than sixteen thousand people annually who have been sentenced to community service or become clients of the probation service in the area of settlement reporting and assessment. In 2021, the average number of employees of the National Probation Service was 411.
The state probation service is constantly developing and the scope of its functions is expanding, so new professionals need to be recruited to create a safer society. In order to make the recruitment process more efficient, recruitment takes place at certain times, so interested persons are encouraged to read the information available and leave their contact details so that a human resources officer can contact them when recruitment begins.
