POLAND – NEWS
Since the start of the war, Poland has supported Ukraine with humanitarian, diplomatic and military aid. President Duda recently announced the transfer of Polish MiG-29 aircraft to the Ukrainians. Now Prime Minister Morawiecki assures that Poland will receive “very good” compensation for the weapons handed over.

“It is necessary to take stock of what has been achieved, and a lot has been achieved, because we will receive compensation from the European Union for the weapons that have been transferred to Ukraine. And this compensation will be very good. It will be up to 300 million euros by Easter. This is a lot of money but in subsequent months there will be 500-600m euros more,” Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told journalists after the EU summit in Brussels.
This is a huge success for Poland
The head of the Polish government said that the “lion’s share” would go to Poland from the European Peace Fund intended for the purchase of ammunition.
“Poland will be the biggest beneficiary of this European Peace Fund. This is a huge success for Poland, this is very important, this is what we have been striving for from the very beginning,” he said.
Morawiecki assured that instead of old weapons that were transferred to Ukraine, Poland will be able to buy modern weapons with European money.
“We will continue to strive to make the European Peace Fund as high as possible. There was almost a consensus among us today. I hope we will reach an agreement in the next few months and that it will amount to at least 3.5 billion euros, most of which will also go to Poland,” the Prime Minister stressed.
