Administration of Latvia’s Environmental Protection Fund of the State Regional Development Agency, in accordance with the decision of the Council of Latvia’s Environmental Protection Fund (LVAF), announces a tender projects in the activity «Restoration of biologically valuable pastures» for implementation of natural pastures (protected habitats of EU importance) restoration activities.

The aim of the competition is to finance activities that will include restoration of natural pastures (protected biotopes of EU importance) on the following territories:
Nature parks: Abavas Senleja, Aivieksta floodplain, Dviete floodplain, Daugava valley, Lake Engure, Kuja, Ogre valley, Pape, Piejura, Salaca valley, Sauka, Silene, Svetes paliene;
Nature reserves: «Antski bogs and forests», «Abeli», «Lake Blazhe», «Burtnieki lake meadows», «Dubna floodplain», «Eglone», «Šventajas river valley», «Dīliņi meadows», «Burgs meadows», «Lake Durbes Meadows», «Gudenieki Meadows», «Lielupe estuary meadows», «Lielupe floodplain meadows», «Luban bog», «Mugurves meadows», «Randu meadows», «Ruias floodplain», «Satinu ponds», «Sitas and Pededze floodplains», «Svētes valley», «Venta valley», «Venta valley and Škervelija», «Vidusburtnieks», «Vidzeme rocky coast»;
Protected landscape areas: «Augsdaugava», «Augšzeme», «Kaučers», «Veclaicene», «Vestiena», «Ziemelgauja»;
National parks: «Gauja National Park», «Kemeru National Park», «Razna National Park», «Slitere National Park»; and other areas, at least 5 ha (one field must be at least 1 ha), if part of the area (at least 50%) is outside the protected areas listed above, but is in one village block (according to the Rural Register of the Rural Support Service) or in a field that is not a block of fields.
Renewable areas declared for the project must meet one of the following characteristics:
– the area is to be assessed as an existing biologically valuable pasture of low quality that requires improvement measures;
– the area is considered as a potentially biologically valuable pasture.
The total amount of funding available under the Call for Proposals is €225,000, the maximum total attributable cost per project from the Fund cannot exceed €2,500 per hectare.
The project applicant may be a legal or natural person, a land/plot owner (who has registered his/her economic activity with the State Revenue Service) or a legal entity, a land manager in whose possession the project activities will take place or who, for the duration of the project after concluding an agreement with the land owner on carrying out the activities supported by the project, in which no economic activities are carried out or planned to be carried out.
The project implementer must provide its own contribution of at least 10% of the total eligible costs of the project.
The deadline for submission of projects is 23 December 2022.
