Students in Estonia will receive 4,000 euros in cash

ESTONIA – TARTU

On Wednesday, 15 March, 4000 euros in cash will be distributed to students in front of the main building of the University of Tartu, 20 euros per hand. Applicants for the money will have to present their student card.

The action of “unheard-of generosity” was made possible by the prize recently awarded to the student office of the University of Tartu for the community service of the year 2022.

Students in Estonia will receive 4,000 euros in cash

According to Hannah Britt Soots, deputy chairperson of the student office, the prize money was awarded to them for bringing attention to the financial plight of students through the campaign.

“So it makes perfect sense that if we got money for a campaign like this, that money should belong to the students,” she said.

Students don’t have many options for getting support funds. So many have to combine study with work.

For those who have a grade point average of 5.0, a scholarship of 100 euros a month is available, but this amount was set 10 years ago when the money had a very different value. So 20 eur is not much money, but you can still buy some groceries and have a decent dinner as a student.

The distribution will start on Wednesday at 9.30 am. Obviously, there is not enough money for everyone, so whoever is fastest will get the money.
