Teachers’ dissatisfaction is not caused by financial problems at all

LATVIA – Professor at the University of Latvia (LU)

Former rector Professor Marcis Auzins said in an interview to «900 Seconds programme» of TV3 that the feeling which teachers are unappreciated is at the root of teachers’ dissatisfaction. The second big problem is that they always look to the government for blame.

Professor LU noted that the problem with the insufficient range of teaching and learning materials, for example, could probably be solved more effectively by the teachers in the sectors concerned by offering the ministry options on how to professionally prepare these materials in a short time with appropriate funds from the state budget.
