WORLD – RUSSIA
On Wednesday morning, a hacker attack on the servers of a number of commercial radio stations resulted in an air-raid alert and the threat of a missile strike being announced over the radio in several major Russian cities. The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s press service said this morning.
“Attention, air raid alert. Everyone take cover immediately. Attention, attention, the threat of a missile strike,” was heard on Relax FM, Avtoradio, Humor FM and Comedy radio.

The announcement was heard by residents of Pyatigorsk, Tyumen, Voronezh, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Magnitogorsk, Belgorod, Stary Oskol, Ufa and Novouralsk.
Russia’s Emergencies Ministry later said the announcement appeared on radio stations as a result of a hacking attack.
“A hacker attack on the servers of several commercial radio stations in several regions of the country resulted in the transmission of information about an alleged air alert and the threat of a missile strike. The Russian Emergencies Ministry reports that this information is a fake and does not correspond to reality. We are urged to follow the reports in official sources,” the ministry said in a statement.
